Bing!

You all know my deal, so I'll say it again: Bing! Hint: You can steer that background with the mouse or on-screen controls. Another interesting bit, this is done - as are all their animated backgrounds - through the use of the somewhat new HTML 5.0 specification, which among other things allows rich content such as videos, music, and other interactive content without requiring additional software be installed. In other words, if you click on a video link, it can play right in the browser without needing a separate piece of software installed such as MediaPlayer or Quicktime or VLC or whatever else instead. Also, notice the news story along the bottom in the screenshot about Microsoft releasing the source code of DOS and Word? Well guess what's posted right below! See how it all comes together?

I think that the browser Bing has created is pretty neat. The fact you can steer the background without having needing additional software is amazing. Yeah Google changes the name or the look of the name Google on their browser is fun but it is nothing like this. I also like that the news story right there on the front screen. It makes accessing the news information very easy. I always used Google as my browser but Bing definitely something I might have to start trying to use more often.

  2. After having used Bing as my homepage and search engine since I switched about a month ago, (after taking the Bing Challenge) I have really grown to love it. The images are so beautiful and I love how interactive it is. Yesterday the picture was of sea lions and it was so cool because there were links to videos and articles all about them. I have officially converted.

  3. I love the images that Bing displays. I didn’t realize that you didn’t need to download any other software. Probably because I already had to download those type of software when I use to use Mozilla, Safari, and Chrome. I tried using Bing after I did the Bing challenge, but shortly after I forget about it and found myself using Google and chrome again. I would like to give Bing another opportunity because there are a lot of pros using this web browser. The layout is extremely unique as well. I think it’s time for a change. I am going to set Bing as my default web browser after I post this.

  4. Actually, the images of Bing is the reason why I prefer it to Google. However, as much as I now love Bing because of the interactive backgrounds that I could watch all day, I must say that it is inferior to Google returning the search results I desire. There are still way too many times that I have to actually run a Google search, after trying a Bing search. Rewards are still cool enough to pursue to constitute using Bing as a first search engine. In response to Leslie, Bing is a search engine, not a web browser. Web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer). You can actually set the home page of http://www.bing.com/ as your default web page on any browser. Just wanted to clear that up. Happy Friday!

  5. After reading this blog, I may just have to switch to Bing. I think that it takes someone to introduce one to new things before one really decides to consider it. Had I not known about Bing and its advantages over Google, I would have never known just what Bing had to offer. The interactive images are truly amazing!

  6. The images are very appealing and give a very serene feeling. I would have never thought about how much Bing has to offer. It is pretty impressive. However, I 'm just not that much into actually using everything it has to offer. I don't really care about background images on my computer. I would recommend Bing to people though.
