Mandalay Bay has TV screens in the weirdest places.

On the sinks in the public bathrooms, for example. They ought to put them above the...you know.

  1. That's for sure! Having it at that level only appeals to those that are eye level with the faucet and, although one should spend minutes washing their hands, usually it is a pretty quick process. Hopefully it isn't a touch screen as you'll either get only dirty hands or soaking wet hands all over it!

  2. That is strange, but innovative. If these little TV's are streaming advertising, what a novel idea. They can have one display device streaming multiple advertisements that you know they charged top dollar to display!

  3. I was actually talking to my little brother yesterday about how its kind of sad how we have to artificially entertain ourselves during every second of downtime possible. I mean, Mandalay Bay's idea is just keeping up with the technological world, and its an excellent way to advertise, but it doesn't usually take more than 15-30 seconds to wash your hands. Then again, that is just enough time to slip in a commercial. In addition, I believe if they installed mini t.v's in the actual stalls, there would be a lot of privacy issues.

  4. I have seen TV creens mounted over the unrinals in some bathrooms in casinos advertising the specials they have or up coming concerts that they are hosting. So having these monitors set up right above the faucet is a very smart ideal.

  5. From what I see it looks like Mandalay Bay is trying to be trendy and keep up with the technology world. This gives customers a reason to brag that Mandalay Bay has tvs by the sinks. I think it is unnecessary to have this, but I do see the marketing idea behind this. When people are washing their hands they cant be easily distracted by their phones are other things, because well first of all their hands are wet and second of all their in the bathroom with not every body around. This gives the TV to have the customers full attention to get their message across. It could be very affective for companies to get their brand across. Personally I don't want to be washing my hands with a small TV right above, there are TV's everywhere sometimes people just want to get away from all that.

  6. This is quite interesting. I haven't seen this exact type of creation before. Was this in the general public restroom or in the hotel room? My wife and I had a staycation at The Trump Hotel and they had a TV in the hotel room bathroom as a flat screen already embedded in the mirror. There was a touch screen option for the monitor controls as well as a remote control.

I would be afraid of getting water on the Mandalay Bay faucet. It seems like an awkward place to install a TV especially if it is a public restroom. How long can someone really wash their hands to watch something on there? Most likely it displays ads for Mandalay Bay and other sponsors. Even at NSC there are flat screens in LAS that only display announcements for NSC and sponsor ads.

The flatscreen TV in the mirror makes a little more sense because it was at eye level. So if someone is getting ready in the bathroom they can listen mostly while getting ready and can also glance over to actually look at or watch the TV. That's what I ended up doing. I cut my own hair so I was cutting my hair in that bathroom with my clippers. I had the news on and then a TV show on and it was convenient to let it play.

  7. I think the money could be used for better things, but I guess if you're going to a casino to gamble, that's what its all about, wasting money. I guess they want to make sure everyone can see advertisements and such. I could see one use for having a TV on a sink or above a urinal, watching the superbowl. I wouldnt want to miss that.
